There is an old joke that often goes around; what is the best thing about college girls? The answer is: I keep getting older while they stay the same age. This is the way you want to approach the dating world as you get older. Getting older should just mean that you have become more sophisticated, more successful, and ultimately sexier to the opposite sex.

The mistake that a lot of guys make as age starts to creep up on them is that they look at younger, fitter and potentially more attractive males in clubs, on billboards and interviewing on TV and they think this is what women must really want.
It makes sense to think like this but unfortunately what this does is ignore the way that women’s brains work. Women aren’t necessarily attracted to these things but rather they are attracted to what these things represent.

Desire number one is intelligence and wisdom.
Believe it or not most women are looking for guidance in life. It is part of their feminine quality. As guys we need to step up and take ownership of our masculine quality and be willing to lead them. With experience comes wisdom. Take full ownership of your wisdom. Take full ownership of the fact that you have a lot to offer the people around you.
It is not about being condescending. It is not about saying in my day we did things like this or you should respect me because I have a lot more experience at this than you do. Real wisdom happens on a sub-conscious level. It floats beneath the surface. Real wisdom is being emotionally mature and this is the type of wisdom that women really respond to. Handsome older men are aided by the quality of wisdom and emotional maturity.
I was fortunate enough to see Leonard Cohen as he toured a couple of years ago. At the time Cohen was in his late 70’s, yet there was this stillness that existed within him. There was a level of wisdom that exuded from his soul and every woman in the audience that night would have, had they had the chance, gone home with him. This really opened my eyes as to how someone takes full ownership of their age and the benefits that come from aging, or just how sexy they are to the opposite sex.
Desire number two is direction.
Younger women like older men because they have their life in order.You know what you want and where you are going. If you don’t have these things going on in your life, then now is the time to start, because this is a very attractive quality to younger women.
For a lot of young girls their life is unraveled. It is a mess. Being around someone who has their life in order can be a calming and inspiring experience. You don’t have to solve all of her problems or give her guidance. In fact, trying to do these things will hurt your case more than help it. What you can do is lead by example. Just be the guy that you are; that successful, driven, focused, and directed man. You have ways to make her feel special that younger men just don’t have.
If the direction you are heading in is something that you are passionate about or something that you are excited about she will be keen to get on that train with you. This is a huge advantage that you have over your younger competition. This is a huge reason as to why younger women are attracted to older men.
Desire number three is the ability to look after her.
I am not talking about being her “sugar daddy”, but if you have been successful in life and are financially secure, this will just add to the attraction. Men over 50 do have this advantage over their younger counterparts, but it’s more than just being able to financially support yourself.
The number one factor that drives women to relationships is security. Sure there’s such a thing as financial security, but it is actually only a small part of the overall picture. The other level of security that is even more important is emotional security.
When you have yourself in check and have yourself and have come to terms with the person you have become, you actually are able to provide her with more emotional security than what a younger guy can. This is a key component to successful relationships.
Younger guys are still emotionally immature. They don’t have the necessary sensitivity to be able to deal with her delicate nature. They say stupid things and do stupid things. Maybe you can relate to this as you think back to your youth. You don’t have to be the daddy figure in her life but you can definitely provide her with love, care and support that will help her feel safe and secure when she’s around you. That is a really powerful gift.
Don’t think of aging as making you “less than”. Look at it as a positive attribute. Be thankful that you have attained wisdom, security, and have direction in your life. This is something that most younger guys don’t have, and can’t offer. This is the reason that older men attract younger women. Use it to your advantage.
