I know you’ve spoken before about your online dating advice being controversial.
Could you share some of those tips and other online dating advice that could set you apart from most of the guys who are trying to teach dating online?

The first way that you can stand out is to do your research.
There’s a great blog at Okcupid.com that has a lot of statistical information that you could really take advantage of to improve your chances online. Also, do not be afraid to experiment and try new things; put some photos up and see what kind of responses you get for the next couple of weeks. Then change those with another batch of photos and see how your responses change.
The great thing about being online is that you can get feedback almost straight away. Use this to your advantage by adapting your profile or making it more powerful and useful. You could also stand out by simply looking at guys who are already successful and emulate some of what leads to that success.
I would recommend another good resource: RSVP.com’s Top 100.
That will give you the list of guys who are getting the most messages and nicest responses from women. One of the things you learn about from a lot of them is that they are very down-to-earth, very easy going, and have a very laid back attitude. So being able to project that in your own ‘about me’ section, and being able to project that through your profile, is definitely of benefit to you.
As for being controversial, one of the things you can do is to simply send her messages that sparks a little bit of a response from her.\
It could be something as simple as, “I bet you get messages from guys all the time about how pretty you are; but I’m curious what else you’ve got going for you,” or anything else like that. It also acts as a qualifier because it gets her thinking that she needs to work for you, as opposed to the other way around. When you are the sort of guy who is doing this whilst she’s already getting thirty or forty messages from other guys, it could be a truly powerful way to make you stand out.
It definitely helps to know how to build intrigue as well.
Intrigue is really about not giving too much away, and making her take the bait; so something like, “I noticed a couple of things in your photo that really stood out,” or even “there was something I noticed about you that made me just want to talk to you,” things like these could be really useful for engaging her in conversation.
Try to stay away from any compliments that are physical or generic. Don’t use “Hi”, because a lot of people are probably messaging her and already saying that, so she would really filter you out quite quickly.
If you can keep to these sorts of rules, you’ll definitely improve your success rate with online interactions.
