I want to point out right at the beginning that this is not medical or psychological advice.
In many places anxiety is treated as a medical condition, which it rightly should be. There are a lot of people that avoid getting professional help and try and “go it alone” and that never works. I’ve had a mountain of success with students where nothing else worked for them by sending them to a specialist clinic to get treated. Look at a list of anxiety treatment centers here.
So many guys that never get results with women are suffering from anxiety. The ones that admit it, and get something done about it are the ones that tend to turn things around.
There are many ways to treat anxiety. Some are more effective than others. I’ve found that the following five methods are wonderful anxiety treatments that really work wonders. The best part is that you can relieve your anxiety with these methods from home or by yourself in your spare time.
Exposure therapy or CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) will really help you to realign your beliefs and help you change your negative ways of thinking. Exposure therapy is the idea of being exposed to the thing you are afraid of on a more regular basis and doing it progressively. The first step might be just to be comfortable walking up to someone.
That may be the first incremental small step. The next step might be to introduce yourself and progressively keep exposing yourself to whatever is slightly outside of your comfort zone, until that becomes comfortable. Then we progress to a higher stage and keep building momentum so we are really learning to crawl before we walk and walk before we run.
The next way to treat anxiety would be Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) which can be a great way to realign the way we think internally. It can help to change our sense of self-image or the way we associate particular ways of thinking. It can also be a great way to reframe some of these things that makes us anxious by changing them into a positive. It can be really useful to look at some NLP techniques online or even to seek out someone who is a professional.
Another great means of dealing with anxiety is neurofeedback, which is a brilliant tool that allows us to use biofeedback and specially designed games to train our brains to adapt to new behaviors. It can teach us to take what used to be stressful to us, and put us in a state of relaxational flow. We get better at moving from one state of being anxious to something more powerful or useful, such as being more present or more comfortable and relaxed.
The next anxiety treatment involves mindfulness techniques and self-acceptance. A lot of the time, that anxiousness comes out because we are worried about what people think of us, what they have to say about us, or how we might appear in the eyes of other people. Learning mindfulness techniques and learning how to accept ourselves can create a much stronger internal foundation where we are really happy with whom we are.
We start to appreciate our positive qualities and the things that we can work on. We start to accept the things that we cannot change, so that we are more comfortable in our own skin. As we begin to accept ourselves more, we will feel a lot of our anxiety melt away.
The fifth way to treat anxiety is the Sedona Method, which is another way of simply accepting whatever feelings you might be experiencing. It’s a very simple technique, it’s very useful, and is a good alternative to all the other techniques I mentioned above. You can find more information about most of these techniques on this website and also at many other websites by doing a simple online search.
